"Exmor" APS HD CMOS sensor
The NEX-VG20 has the same sensor format that Sony builds into the it's DSLRs. Video is captured at 1920x1080 24p (NTSC) and recorded in AVCHD 60p (NTSC) format. With 19.5 times the surface area of conventional camcorders, the large Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor makes capturing cinematic video with a shallow depth of field a breeze.

The Creativity of Changing Lenses
Open up a world of creative options and attach a lens to match your shooting situation. The NEX-VG20 is compatible with Sony E-mount Series of smaller, lighter lenses which are optimized for video shooting with silent operation and autofocus, as well as Sony A and Konica Minolta A-mount lenses (via optional LA-EA1 adapter).

High-quality video requires high-quality audio. The Quad Capsule Spatial Array stereo microphone contains four precision placed microphone capsules to provide exceptional front-side directivity and stereo separation. There's also a microphone jack for external microphones as well as a stereo headphone jack for precise audio monitoring.

Operation and design optimized
Shoot low-angle ground level or up at tall structures from a low position, comfortably by gripping the NEXVG-20 from above and rotating the LCD monitor to a position at which it can be easily viewed. When shooting in bright outdoor conditions switching to the viewfinder makes viewing easier. A control dial on the side of the unit enables adjustment of manual settings while the LCD monitor is in the closed position.

Enjoy incredible DSLR quality detail and clarity with 16.1MP still images and even catch fast-action sequences with a continuous burst rate of up to 7 fps. Plus, your pictures will look amazing with great still image features such as Auto HDR, Handheld Twilight, Anti Motion Blur and more. RAW format is supported for full access to the widest range of post-processing options to bring your creative vision to realization.

Up to 24Mbps AVCHD 2.0 video
The NEX-VG20 can capture video in full 1920x1080 high definition at up to 24Mbps for amazing clarity and detail, ideal for recording on to Blu-ray Disc media since the AVCHD 2.0 codec is highly compatible with the Blu-ray Disc format.
